I think one of the most important things to do to make it in the graphic design and art world is to always be creating. Always be on the move in some form. I know that I’m not the best at that, and I’m trying to stay motivated and stay fluid lately. Evidence of that includes my working plans for my own little magazine as well as my recent subscription to Juxtapoz Magazine. Earlier tonight I was feeling the need for inspiration so I made a trip down to Barnes & Noble to pick up some magazines that will hopefully inspire me as well.
I am not sure what will come out of this all, but I hope that its good. I know that I have some unfinished projects that I need to work on, including a website for the band Miss The Occupier, as well as a new edition of the newsletter for my current employers. Hopefully all goes well.
I’m having a weird hankering for some creativity, and have always been a little bit fascinated by the idea of self-made magazines. I know that I have the layout history to do a lot of the work myself, and it could also serve as a personal outlet to help market my graphic design side. However, I know that I don’t have all of the necessary resources to create all the content myself. There is always the fact that I don’t even know what type of content I’d stipulate.
My current thoughts include just tapping various people that I’ve encountered online and in person and requesting any sort of creative works from them. I’d also probably include various bands that I particularly enjoy that I’ve always considered “under the radar” in my own definitions. Perhaps it’d just end up an annual freeforall.
If you’re interested in contributing any sort of creative works, feel free to contact me. No idea when/if I’ll get this started, but with enough motivation, I probably would do at least 1 issue, FOSS software made, of course.
After a grand total delay of: too long, I’ve finally unveiled Michaelbox.net.[1] I like it, but of course there are areas that aren’t quite so pretty and could use work, and they will get worked on, hopefully faster and sooner than it took for me to even launch anything. This isn’t a call or request for critiques, but if you see something that just bothers you, feel free to leave a note and I’ll look into it.
Anyone want to review my cover letter and offer some tips/critiques? It’s still a work in progress and some areas are incomplete, as they would be filled in with each company I send it to, as well as areas that would be date sensitive. Comments on the blog are preferable, but if you decide to edit the file yourself, make sure to highlight the changes you make.

Today I decided to enable mobile banking through my checking account with Wells Fargo. It’ll allow me to check my balance and account status through text messages. I tried it earlier just to see my balance and it seems to work well, although it took a few minutes to get the return text. Nonetheless if I’m out and about, I can see where I’m at, or can check while on the road and without internet.
I’ve decided to create a feed specifically for Planet Fedora and keep some of the not-so-fedora/foss/linux based stuff that I sometimes want to post about, off Planet Fedora. If you want to subscribe to my blog and see all the posts, no matter the topic, use this RSS feed:

Other than that, you can just subscribe to the Planet Fedora feed and see just the nerdy/FOSS stuff.
