What I Do

Personal Statement

As I went through my time at college studying graphic design and multimedia/web development, I was taught on many of the industry standard software programs. The programs that every designer and developer know intimately, especially Adobe’s product line.

Sometime in 2007, during my last semester, I accidentally fell in love with the Linux operating system, and this effectively changed the way I’d have to work. The industry standards do not work natively on Linux. I also could not afford legal copies for use after leaving the school environment. Since I was not about to throw away five years worth of education out the window, I went in search of alternative programs while retaining the concepts I learned.

This does not mean I would be completely lost if I was put in front of a computer with all of your familiar programs. It would just be a different user interface environment, some tool variations, and different learn-able features.

I feel that I can still produce professional quality work with the tools I’ve come to use and love, and will produce the best work I can.

Testimonials

Rachael E.C. Acklin

Michael is one of my favorite wordpress web developers to work with. Over the past year, he has developed custom WordPress themes from design files for me. His attention to detail and penchant for perfection make him a great developer. Not only that, but he’s great at communicating both with me and with the client, making him an asset to any great design project.”

Amy Crook

I’ve worked with Michael on several projects and have been very impressed with his quality of work. I’ve worked with a number of different vendors over the years, and Michael’s attention to the details has been awesome, elevating Michael’s work from “good enough” to “excellent.” He takes criticism as a challenge to go above and beyond, while still keeping to deadline, and has a great sense of humour about it all. Michael has been really great to work with, and I’ve already got plans to hire him again soon.
